Tsunami Clean Up

Tsunami Clean Up is starting on the west coast. Are you ready for the jobs to start?

Greetings from the panhandle of Florida! Everyone is waiting to see how the storm will shake out here. I'm here on a UXO job but we decided to come armed and ready to work in case we get the call. We hope that everyone is safe and that no one gets hurt or killed, further damage or tourism dollars are lost.

The Japanese Tsunami is coming! A year and half later!

The cost of the debris cleanup is going to be unknown at this point,” says Gov. Christine Gregoire. “The primary financial responsibility for the cleanup lies with the federal government.”

But so far the feds have told the states they’re pretty much on their own. An official with NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, testified in front of a U.S. Senate panel saying a federal funding plan has not been made and in most cases the local governments will have to pay.

That’s not sitting well with West Coast lawmakers. Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, introduced a bill that would provide $45 million in federal money for debris cleanup. “This is an emergency,” says Begich. “We would see no different if there was a tornado, a hurricane or earthquake. We would be right there assisting.”

Government agencies getting involved. A lot of patting each other on the back and knee jerk reactions to follow soon. I'd look at HAZWOPER as a base line for any remediation or clean up involving federal agencies.

We do have some new package deal specials with the 40 Hour and Supervisor course. May be worth looking into.

Keep your eyes open for Hurricane and now Tsunami clean up and even security jobs to support the efforts.

We have about 5 days left to get your entries in for the UXO School giveaway! Liking us on Facebook and liking my new company, Training Center Pros, counts toward entries!

Be safe, be prepared and Profit!
