Additional UXO Study Material

by Scott

I am going to take the class at Texas A&M in January and want to get started learning as much as I can.

Can you recommend any books I could start reading to get a jump on things. I ordered a book on explosives from Amazon...but beyond that...?

UXO Study Material

This is a great question and I appreciate the Techs that are interested in getting all the information they can.

My short answer is "Yes." You'll be issued a 500 page book with plenty to read at UXO school and when you're done, you'll start collecting "Pubs" from other experienced guys you work with.

However, all new UXO students that take the 40 Hour HAZWOPER through Training Center Pros will receive the UXO student guide on DVD so that you can be familiar with the content when you're issued your book at school.

The first book I recommend is Explosives & Blasting 2nd Edition. It's an incredible book to have to keep you up to speed on demolition procedures and explosives in general.

There is another a great book I will recommend but don't look to it for technical information. The book is called Aftermath and addresses the issues involving ERW or Explosive Remnants of War and UXO. I believe it was first published around 1998.

You'll pick up books and pubs along the way. I recommend reading your pubs daily and becoming an expert with your tools like the Schonstedt and Trimble Geo XH GPS.

Thanks again for the great questions.
