Annual Work Schedule

How is it going? Is work in this industry mostly free-lance? Meaning you work one job for however long it runs, and then you return back to the job hunting pool and search for another gig and so on and so forth.

Or is it possible to land, for lack of a better term, permanent slot with a company and they send you out or assign you jobs?

Ideal Work Schedule
by: Steve Cassidy

Great question! Figuring out your ideal work schedule, regardless of you industry is always a great question to keep asking yourself.

As it relates to UXO, you can have your cake and eat it too. As long as you know exactly what you're looking for and more importantly, what is the exact dollar amount you need to make each month to pay your bills and put some away for emergencies as well as having fun.

One of my friends, Jim, has been with a big company for a few years. He will mobilize to his job and will plan on being there for the length of the contract. He just got back home from California after working there for over a year.

Every 6 weeks, the company would fly him home, at no cost to him, for some R&R. He stays employed just like anyone else with a "normal" job.

This arrangement has worked out well for him in achieving his goals.

I like to work based on the frequent flyer miles and hotel miles I'll earn. Of course, I want a place that is somewhat of a vacation. I'm not taking a job in the US that isn't close to a beach or a big city.

I've been to some really cool places and met some great folks along the way. I like to be home and to work on my business and of course, Globally Employable.

I highly recommend defining exactly how much you need to make on the minimum side. Most people don't even set goals, so you'll be ahead of everyone else.

Is travel acceptable? And if it is, how much of the year?

Good luck and thanks for the great question!
