How former EOD Technicians return to UXO

by Christopher Brown
(Jacksonville, FL)

I am a former USAF EOD technician that is currently working for Medicare.

I want to get back into the UXO field but have been out for 3 years now.

Would this training benefit me in any way or is there another route I should take?

Any advice would be appreciated.

EOD getting back into UXO
by: Steve Cassidy

Former EOD getting back into UXO is always an option...the same goes for UXO Techs.

Your credentials are good for life! All you need to do is get your 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher and your OSHA physical completed.

You'll need to make sure you have a copy of your EOD or UXO Certificate, your 40 Hour HAZWOPER and a resume of your EOD and UXO experience.

EOD Techs can start immediately as UXO Tech II but may have to take an initial position as a Tech I for the work. Remember, there's nothing better than being an E-5 Slick Bomb.

UXO Techs can go from Tech I to II with 36 months of Grid time. Keep in mind if you work July 31st and August 1st counts as 2 months.

If you're an EOD Tech coming back into UXO, you're smart enough to understand contract requirements that companies are under.

There is a need for Senior guys to have their HAZWOPER Supervisor and OSHA 30 Hour Construction Support certifications.

30 hour construction support
by: James

I was searching this site for either of the 10 hour OSHA safety courses, construction or general, when I came across mention of the 30 hour construction support course but I don't see any of the three listed anywhere. Are these three courses available?

OSHA 30 Hour Construction Supervisor
by: Steve Cassidy

The 30 Hour Construction Supervisor and 10 Hour Supervisor courses are available on our civilian training site located here.

It is a good strategic move to get the 30 Hour Construction Supervisor as it's becoming an increasingly frequent contract requirement for UXO contracts.
