Work sites and safety

by Elise

How realistic is it that you could get on a contact that is near your home? Or should I say, a contract that is actually worthwhile (interesting and profitable), where I wouldn't be extremely far at all times.

Also as far as safety goes, what really are the statistics? Obviously there are extreme safety measures taken at all times and there are numerous types of equipment, but in this line of work there must be accidents and such. How dangerous is it really, like should one not be prepared for a family and such?

UXO Work Site Safety
by: Steven

Great questions.

Having UXO work close to home is lucky at best and if it is close, how long will it actually last?

You're paid Per Diem if you live outside a 50 mile radius of the job site. I love Per Diem!

I was fortunate enough to work a contract in North Carolina where I was able to rent a room from a friend that was also on the contract.

He lived about 53 miles from the site so he collected Per Diem. Many companies are trying for local hires so they can bill the Per Diem and not pay it.

Be careful what you ask for. You might just get it.

Site Safety on UXO sites is great. Not sure of the statistics other than it's very low but over 40,000 people are killed in car accidents every year.

Hope that helps.
